Dr. Alkadhi Shirzad, Ph.D. ~ Cultural Advisor

alkadhishirzadDr. Alkadhi began his professional career in agriculture with a BSc and a Ph.D., and later became the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Agriculture. Given his exposure to different cultures, the Ethnocultural Council of London, Ont. tapped him as Treasurer. During this period, he earned a certificate and taught English as a Second Language at the London Language Center. In Canada, he co-founded Alkadhi Translation and Interpretation Services to provide English, Arabic, and Kurdish interpretation and translation. A natural cultural advisor and consultant, Dr. Alkadhi is familiar with Turcoman, and Assyrian languages through helping others meet their needs. While a member of Cultural Interpretation Services of Ottawa-Carlton, Dr. Alkadhi acted as a liaison between recipients and social and human services organizations. Simultaneously, he assisted in Systematic Entomology research with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Since 2002, Dr. Alkadhi has worked in the news media as a broadcaster with Radio Free Europe and news editor with Alhurra TV.

Through his agricultural background, Dr. Alkadhi has a thorough knowledge of the cultural and economic issues in Iraq, Kurdistan and the Middle East. He has researched, written articles, and broadcasted reports regarding agricultural, environmental, biodiversity, cultural and political issues.
